A Sudden Goodbye

You may recall my post at the end of August where I wrote about watching this cute little boy who lives upstairs. I have continued to watch him for his parents and have bonded with him. Last Thursday, Mason returned to his Heavenly Father. I am heart broken. I miss him already and I am sad that I will not get to hold him again.

This post is not focused on the act of service but on the things I've learned and gained from serving this baby. As I would hold him, I would often sing to him. A couple times while I was singing, I am a Child of God, Mason looked up at me and smiled. I was comforted by him. His smile let me know that he knew our Father in Heaven. He had not forgotten him. He was such a good baby and as I held him he would immediately fall asleep. I loved to just watch him sleep. He was so peaceful and sweet.

One day he was not feeling well and so I drove him and his mom to the ER(we didn't end up going there) but as I was driving him he was crying quite loudly, which is uncharacteristic for him. I kept reaching into the back seat to try to comfort him and as I gave him my finger, he grabbed my finger in his little hand and calmed down a bit. We had a bond.

I know Mason is in Heaven. He is being taken care of better than he would have ever been on this earth. I am grateful for the knowledge I have that I will see him again. My heart aches for the loss of life but my soul rejoices for his salvation. I am a better person to have known him.

I am now trying to be there for his parents. I want them to know what I know about Eternal Life and where Mason is. His parents have had a hard life and I hope they can get through this.
